Max Murray, eldest son of Clinton ( who designed and built Pete and Penny’s house ) and Pam, dragged his guitar into The Shed one day ( in 2007 ) and started riffing on J.J. Cale’s ‘Crazy Mama’.
We couldn’t persuade Max to sing it, but he did tell Pete (who had never heard it) that the basic lyric line was “Where ya been so long ?”
So off we went, with Pete making up lyrics as we went along. Pete gets a bit off the track along the way and starts singing about rubbish bins!
We recorded it on a couple of roof hung mics plugged into a 4 track tape recorder. The mix is diabolical, but somehow it makes sense. We think. Maybe. Well, not really.
Anyway it is the only song we ever got to record with Max, so crazy as it may sound, here ‘tis..............
