With apologies to Canned Heat we ‘localised’ the lyrics and knocked this out at the PBGB Big Bash at The Grange in 2009.
After Kev had wound us up with his antics in Baby Please Don’t Go we turned the tables and egged him on to meltdown point during this hyper jam.
In point of fact, On The Road Again is said to have evolved from a 1928 Tommy Johnson tune called Big Road Blues. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU6eLg3GWuA Johnson’s song was covered by Floyd Jones in 1953, then adopted and adapted by Canned Heat who had a smash hit with it in 1968.
So in fact PBGB is just following an eighty year tradition by messing around with it.
Go Kev ! Let the boy Boogie!
