After releasing PBGB 6 ‘Transitions’, we had a few chats and agreed that for a while at least we would try to release songs that were less tricked up, rawer, straight out of the recorder as it were. It’s a tough call to release virtually live songs after a period of releases that have had some smoothing out in the studio.
But we have had some great successes.
And now we have this version of Neil’s song ‘Take Me To Heart’.
When Neil first started playing with PBGB his clear goal was to build his confidence in singing his songs and in playing guitar live – a switch from bass.
The whole version was recorded in a single pass on 4 separate tracks and mixed later in Neil's "jiguma studio". This is very much a live recording.
Big kudos for Chris too – brilliant bass line.
And for me, Pete, a very satisfied feeling about the live drum track.
Take me to heart
Just don't take me for granted
Tear me apart
But don't leave me that way
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
When we first met
You got just what you wanted
Time and again
You got your own way
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
Stop me if I've said
Something that doesn't need saying
Stop me if I've said
Something wrong
Tell me if this
Is just some kind of game you're playing
And I'll be gone
SOLOS
Stop me if I've said
Something that doesn't need saying
Stop me if I've said
Something wrong
Tell me if this
Is just some kind of game you're playing
And I'll be gone
Got this thing in my head
That you'll set me free
was it something I said
I just can't let it be
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
Hope you have some regrets
When you walk out that door
But I'll get back my heart
Pick myself off the floor
Where do we start
Now that it's over
Take me to heart
Stop me if I've said
Something that doesn't need saying
Stop me if I've said
Something wrong
Tell me if this
Is just some kind of game you're playing
